Getting Back on the Wagon

Hello readers, if there are any of you left!  I have severely neglected my blog, but that was part on purpose and part because of no time.  As I sit here, I’m in the middle of cleaning my house, doing laundry, scanning old documents and pictures so that the actual documents and pictures can go to the shredder… the list goes on and on.  I feel like I can’t think straight sometimes, so I just tackle what I can head on and deal with the rest later.  BUT, I digress : )

There’s no excuse for me as to why all of this is such a mess, other than I have been lazy and sluggish.  Let me back up a little though.  March 28th I gave birth to our third little boy, and he’s beautiful.  I shall post more on him another day with a picture, I promise!  It was a great pregnancy (although I had gestational diabetes I had an endocrinologist helping me to keep that under control) and my recovery from my scheduled c-section was my best yet!  I came home, had 4 weeks off from work and seemed to be able to get back into the swing of life pretty quickly!

Then came the end of July, and a planned vacation to Walt Disney World thanks to my wonderful parents.  All we had to do was get there and then everything else was paid for!  Talk about a magical time!  My older boys, ages 4 and 3 at the moment, had an absolute blast and it was so exciting seeing everything through their eyes!  I went to high school in Florida and the first year we moved down there from Iowa my parents had bought annual passes for our family so I’ve been to Disney quite a few times but there is nothing like seeing it through the eyes of your children.  And my parents would say it’s even more magical seeing it through the eyes of your children AND your grandchildren!  The vacation was such a blessing, and we have many memories to last a lifetime.  Perhaps that will be another post! : )

We came home from vacation and now it seems as though I can’t get caught up on anything.  I finally have caught up on work within the last week, and today I am purposing to get caught up on the house.  I still need to get all of the curriculum ready for the boys’ school year, though.  I need to purge some things big time to make room for a couple of new things (like putting the older boys in big boy beds from toddler beds and finding an exersaucer for the baby) and overall just be more organized.  The weather is cooling which makes it awesome for opening the windows and airing out the house.  I guess I’ve just finally entered into “fall cleaning” mode perhaps.  Time to get rid of the funk!

Have you ever felt like you just couldn’t get it together? I’d love to hear from you on how you managed to get over it and get back on the wagon, so to speak.  I’m climbing up, but haven’t fully managed to get into the seat all the way yet…  The following Scripture is what I am meditating on this morning as I remember who I am: a daughter of God, grafted into the vine because of the precious atoning blood of Jesus Christ.  This is what I need to remember most, more than a dirty house or my ever-growing list of “to-do’s”

Proverbs 31:10-31

King James Version (KJV)

10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.

12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.

13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.

14 She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar.

15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.

16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.

17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.

18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.

19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.

20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.

21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.

22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.

23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.

24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.

25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.

26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.

28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.

29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.

30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.

31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

  1. First of all you are and have always been a wonderful daughter, secondly you are a great mom. I had always prayed that my parenting and showing each and everyone of my children how much they mean to me..individually and together as a family would be carried on to my children’s children. I am more than pleased to say that has happened. I never knew if I was a great parent a d often questioned and prayed about it, but I must say that watching my kids with my grandkids, I think I must have done pretty good..with the help of God of course! I continue to pray for the help you may need in the years to come but hope that you and your brothers and sister will be fortunate enough to have the wonderful children that your Dad and I were blessed with. May God bless you now and always. (I don’t think this really has much to do with your blog, but maybe I was trying to say that some things just aren’t as important as others….and you will get back to where you want to be). Love Mom

  2. If you ever need me to come get the boys and take them to the park or something, just let me know! God has blessed us with lots of family so that we can lift each other up and bless each other! Use me if you need me!!
